Partner Marvin Newell has deep consulting expertise across a broad range of industries. He has advised Fortune 500 companies as well as mid-market organizations. His background includes significant experience in corporate restructuring as well as defining and implementing major change programs for global enterprises.
Prior to joining Everest, Mr. Newell was president and Chief Executive Officer at Scalable Software (Houston, Texas), an IT compliance management and niche IT asset management software firm. He completed an acquisition and repositioned the company as a leader in the emerging IT compliance management market, orchestrating strategic redirection for transition to a Software-as-as-Service model while preserving the legacy customer base.Before Scalable Software, Mr. Newell was president and Chief Executive Officer at Zilliant Incorporated (Austin, Texas), a profit and revenue optimization company focusing on solutions for Fortune 500 companies. He refocused the company’s direction and guided the solution from inception to successful deployment in large enterprises including General Electric, DHL Worldwide Express, Analog Devices, and Danka.
For three years, Mr. Newell worked with Baan Company, first as Chief Operating Officer, Baan Americas, and later as President, Baan Indirect Channels (Midmarket Solutions). He led the development of the global indirect channel business for Baan’s enterprise applications and defined the strategy to establish a channel partner network driving overall business and establishing Baan’s leadership in the midmarket enterprise applications space. In response to market changes, he restructured/redirected the indirect channels organization from an “invest ahead of demand” business model to a streamlined, high-leverage operation.
Prior to Baan, Mr. Newell was a Principal with McKinsey & Company (Dallas, Texas). During his 14 years with McKinsey, he led strategy development, organizational transformation, and major change programs to capture fundamental improvements in clients’ competitive positions and performance. As a leader of the firm’s North American Electronics practice and the global Information Technology/Systems (IT/S) practice he directed high-impact knowledge-building and clientele development initiatives.
Mr. Newell has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University.
