Gaurav Gupta has responsibility for Everest Group’s business and operations in the Asian markets, including South Asia, the Middle and Far-East. He has over eleven years of management consulting and sourcing-related experience and has served clients in Asia and North America from industries that include financial services, outsourcing,
hi-tech, commodities, manufacturing, retail and private equity.
At Everest, Gaurav’s experience spans a variety of strategic and operational initiatives at global and regional corporations. These include developing outsourcing and offshoring strategies for leading North American banks and manufacturing companies, assessing the performance of offshore “captive” operations and helping grow into strategic global services entities and, supporting transnational, Indian and other Asian IT and BPO suppliers assess new product-market opportunities and improve their ability to compete effectively. Gaurav has also helped market-leading and emerging Indian corporations develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives, including outsourced and shared service models, that improve their competitiveness, flexibility and ability to scale in a complex and growing market. In addition, Gaurav has assisted private equity firms in market assessment and investment due-diligence exercises in the offshore services sector.
Gaurav is one of Everest’s thought leaders in the area of global services. He is a contributor to the firm’s intellectual property on offshore captives and has collaborated with the senior leaders of four Fortune 500 clients to develop strategies to make captive operations deliver value beyond cost arbitrage. Gaurav also led Everest Group’s work with NASSCOM, the Indian IT and BPO industry association to define a growth roadmap for the BPO sector in India. The widely referenced report developed with NASSCOM also sets the agenda for government and industry across a variety of initiatives, including education, infrastructure and enabling policy.
Before joining Everest Group, Gaurav was a Relationship Manager with Progeon Limited (now Infosys BPO), where he developed and managed Business Process Outsourcing relationships with financial services clients operating across the U.S., UK, and Europe. He helped his clients navigate the entire lifecycle of an offshoring program, including introducing the global services model, targeting and prioritizing outsourcing options, and executing the outsourcing strategy.
Prior to working with Progeon, Gaurav was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company in New Delhi, India where he worked on several strategy, operations, and organization improvement engagements. These included a market-entry strategy for a leading healthcare company, a sourcing strategy for a large global retailer, a growth strategy for an emerging Indian pharmaceutical company, and the post-merger integration of another pharmaceutical company. Gaurav also headed the launch team of the Indian School of Business (ISB) established by McKinsey & Company, the Wharton School, the Kellogg School of Management, and the London Business School.
Gaurav holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and a BA in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
